SeaWorld Finally Updating their Theme Park in 2025. Rescue Jr. and more.

SeaWorld San Antonio is gearing up for a significant expansion in 2025, with plans for a nearly 150,000-square-foot addition focused on animal rescue. This ambitious project, currently referred to as a "confidential project" in state filings, is estimated to cost $6 million and is slated for completion by spring 2025, with construction beginning this fall.

While details remain scarce, the project bears a striking resemblance to SeaWorld San Diego's 2023 addition, "Rescue Jr." This successful San Diego expansion features rides, water features, climbing structures, and hands-on activities, all centered around SeaWorld's commitment to animal rescue and rehabilitation. Authentic rescue vehicles are also incorporated into the design. SeaWorld San Diego President Jim Lake described Rescue Jr. as a "first of its kind" attraction that puts marine animal rescue at the forefront.

The San Antonio expansion comes on the heels of recent leadership changes at the park and its sister waterpark, Aquatica. Jeff Davis assumed the role of president this spring, succeeding Jodi Davenport. This shift in leadership followed the parent company's rebranding as United Parks & Resorts.

This expansion promises to be a significant boost for SeaWorld San Antonio and the local tourism industry. The focus on animal rescue aligns with a growing public interest in conservation and responsible animal care, potentially attracting a wider range of visitors. As more details emerge, we can expect further updates on this exciting development. Stay tuned for more information as the project progresses.
